Inspired by artist Lisa Hunt’s use of bold forms and recurring motifs that express the infinite passing of time, Lori Weitzner invited Lisa to collaborate on five Weitzner designs based on her artwork. The result is a collection in which fine art meets design, graphic pattern meets nuance, and bold color meets innuendo—all in perfect harmony.

Weitzner has long been known for playing with texture, weave, dimension, and color to create unexpected textiles and wallcoverings. The latest collection pushes that tradition even further to reveal a multitude of surprises that are still quintessentially Weitzner. Says designer Lori Weitzner, “The most interesting designs to me are the ones that have juxtaposition: whether its a shiny surface with a surprise matte yarn...a very dimensional weave that gives way to flatter areas that enhance the loft...or those magical designs that can go either dressy or casual depending on the room.”

To enhance these effects, Lori invited artist Lisa Hunt to collaborate on five of the 18 new designs. Weitzner was drawn to the way Hunt’s work expresses the infinite passing of time through modern interpretations of classic symbols: Palms, pomegranates, sonic coils and arrows are employed with rhythmic repetition and graphic geometry. Also in her work, gold is used as a unifier, where background becomes foreground and dynamism mingles with serenity. Inspired by the artwork’s bold forms, Weitzner broadened and transformed them by applying the studio’s expertise in materials and weaving/printing techniques to create fabrics and wallcoverings that add an element of alchemy to a room.

The entire collection forms a magnificent group of both wall coverings and textiles where fine art meets design, graphic pattern meets nuance and bold color meets innuendo—all in perfect harmony.
